How to Fix Question Text Not Appearing in the PDF Report

When copying and pasting survey question text from another program (typically Word or Excel), invisible code from the source program might inadvertently be copied along with the text.  This invisible code can affect how a PDF program reads the text and might cause the question text not to appear in the PDF report as shown in the image below:

To resolve this so that the question text appears as expected in the PDF report, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Survey & Projects in the top menu bar and then click Surveys
  2. Find the Survey that contains the question that isn't appearing in the PDF report
  3. Click on Edit under 'Options' and then click on 'Edit as Override' on the box that appears
  4. Find the question that isn't appearing in the PDF report on the survey and click on Edit (pencil icon)
  5. Copy the question text and paste the text to Notepad (or another simple text editor)
  6. Delete the question text from the question in CES.  And you may wish to click delete and backspace a few times even after the question is deleted to get rid of any invisible coding that might precede or follow the question text.
  7. Then paste the question back into the survey.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Repeat these steps for any question text that isn't appearing in the PDF report

Once you have completed these steps, generate the PDF again and you should see the question text as expected in your PDF report.
