The Manage Courses Monitoring feature within Course Evaluations & Surveys allows CES Administrators to monitor changes made by node administrators and instructors within a course evaluation type project that has Manage Courses enabled. This article details how to use this feature effectively and provides insights into its various functionalities. Below is a video overview of this feature.
Getting Started
Manage Courses Monitoring can be accessed and utilized by the following:
- Login to Course Evaluations & Surveys (CES) as a CES Administrator.
- Navigate to Account from the top navigation bar and select Manage Courses from the Monitoring area.
-
Once Manage Courses is selected, you can search
for projects or review the actions performed
within each project. To appear in the list, a
project must have
Manage Courses
enabled, and atleast one instructor or node administrator
must have made a change. You can search projects
by:
- Sorting: Click on a column's header to sort the projects in ascending or descending order.
-
Filtering: Projects
can be filtered using the following criteria:
- Project Name: Search by the project's name.
- First and/or Last Name: Use the first and/or last name of an instructor or node administrator to find project they have modified.
- Username: Search by the username of an instructor or node administrator.
- Email: Use the email address of an instructor or node administrator.
- User Type: Filter by user type (Instructor or Node Administrator) to see which projects have been modified by each type.
- Course Unique ID: Search using the unique ID of a course to find changes related to that specific course.
- Action: Search by specific actions that have been performed for a project, such as "Enroll Student," "Enroll Student Batch," or "Remove Course."
- Date Range where Modified: Filter projects by a specific date range during which changes may have occurred.
- Once you've found a desired project that you would like to access it's manage courses page and monitor insights, click on the magnifying glass icon under the View column for the project.
-
After clicking on the magnifying glass icon,
you will see an overview set of tables at the
top that displays the percentages indicating
how many instructors and node administrators
have made changes to the project using Manage
Courses, both overall and within the last 24
hours. Below the overview tables, there is a
list of administrators and instructors who have
made modifications. You can filter this list
by:
- First and/or Last Name: Search using the instructor or node administrator's name.
- Username: Search by their username.
- Email: Search using their email address.
- User type: Filter by "Instructor" or "Node Administrator" to review the changes that have been made by type.
- Course Unique ID: Search using the unique ID of a course to find changes related to that specific course.
- Date Range where Modified: Filter changes by a specific date range during which modifications may have occurred.
-
Once you have filtered the list to find an instructor
or node administrator, you can review the changes
they have made by accessing their Manage Courses
Log. To access the Manage Courses log, click
on the magnifying glass icon within the View
column. A pop-up window will then appear with
the following columns:
- Action: Displays the action taken, such as "Enroll Student," "Enroll Student Batch," "Remove Course," etc.
- Date & Time: Timestamp indicating when the change occurred.
- Course: Shows the course affected by the change.
-
Details: Provides insights into the specific
change made. For example, if a user was
enrolled or removed from a course, their
name and username as shown in CES will
be displayed here. For date changes,
this column will display both the old
and new values, detailing the date changes
made as shown in the image below.
As a CES administrator, you have the ability to add the Manage Courses Monitoring Widget through Manage Dashboard. This widget is not enabled by default, but once enabled you can easily access this feature from your CES dashboard.
