Course Evaluation Management: Who has Access and How to Request Access

The Course Evaluation Management tool allows institutions to manage syncs for the Course Evaluation & Surveys (CES) and Faculty Success (FS) integration, including initiating and rollbacks.

Access to the Course Evaluation Management tool is permission-based. Users must be assigned a security role that includes the Course Evaluation Management permission in order to view or interact with the tool.

Default Access

Upon implementation of the CES and FS integration, the Course Evaluation Management permission is automatically granted to the top-level administrator security role in your Faculty Success system. Any user assigned to this role will have access to the tool.

How to Request Access for Additional Users

If a user who is not assigned to the top-level administrator security role requires access to the Course Evaluation Management tool, you may proceed with one of the following options, depending on the level of access needed:

Option 1: "CES Sync Manager" Role (Full Access)

This option involves creating a new, standalone CES Sync Manager security role. Users assigned to this role will have access to the Course Evaluation Management tool, including the ability to:

  • Initiate syncs to attach CES reports to their corresponding Scheduled Teaching records in FS.
  • Roll back previously completed syncs.

Steps to request this role:

  • Submit a General Work Request. In the request specify that you're requesting the creation of the CES Sync Manager standalone security role that includes full access to the Course Evaluation Management tool to initiate and rollback syncs.

Option 2: "CES Sync Manager - Read Only" Role

This option allows for the creation of a new, standalone CES Sync Manager - Read Only security role. Users assigned to this role will only be able to:

  • See the History table within the Course Evaluation Management tool to review syncs that have been initiated.

The Course Evaluation Management page showing History section with description about displaying the status of synced projects. Table headers include project name, report type, term, year, instrument, date, status, and actions. Message below the table states No prior syncs.

Steps to request this role:

  • Submit a General Work Request. In the request specify that you are requesting the creation of a CES Sync Manager - Read Only standalone security role that includes Course Evaluation Management permission with read-only access (no permission to initiate or roll back syncs).

Tracking Your Request

Updates of submitted work requests will be provided through the work request utility. For more information on how to track work requests, visit Overview of Work Requests. After the request is completed, you can use the Users & Security tool to assign the newly created role to users as necessary. This can be done by following the steps highlighted in Searching and Managing User Accounts.
