Assigning a Site, Mentors, and Supervisors

From the student placement card, you can assign sites, mentors, and supervisors.

Assign a Site

To assign a site to a student, click the Assign Site link. In the flyout menu that opens, you can filter by District or search for a site by name. Select a site and click the Assign button to add it to the student's placement card.

Assign Mentors

To assign one or more mentors, click the Assign Mentors link. In the flyout menu, you can use the following options to find mentors:

  • Search by mentor name, email, or site.
  • Select the checkbox to filter for mentors already associated with the student's assigned site.

You can also sort the mentor list by the Mentor Name or Section Mentor columns. After selecting one or more mentors, click the Assign button.

Note: Users with the Faculty role can also be assigned as a Mentor for student placements.

Assign Supervisors

To assign one or more supervisors, click the Assign Supervisors link. In the flyout menu, you can search by supervisor name, email, or site. You can also sort the list by the Supervisor Name or Section Supervisor columns. After selecting one or more supervisors, click the Assign button.

Add Placement Details

You can add more information to a student's placement using the fields on the placement card. The available fields include:

  • Placement Details: Add multiple tags to describe the placement. Tags are limited to 50 characters.
  • Content Area: Add multiple content area tags. Tags are limited to 50 characters.
  • Grade Levels: Select one or more grade levels.
  • Start Date: Select the placement's start date.
  • End Date: Select the placement's end date.
  • Note: Add text notes about the placement. These notes are visible to the student.

After editing these fields, you must click the Save & Close button in the page header to save your changes.

Note: Tags need to be created before they can be added to the Placement Details and Content Area. To create a Tag, visit this article: Placement Management - Tags Tab

View Placement History

To see a student's past placements, click the View Placement History button. For each previously recorded placement, the following details are shown:

  • Site name
  • Mentors
  • Supervisors
  • Term
  • Dates
  • Placement Details
  • Content Area
  • Grade Levels

If the placement was originally from Field Experience, the history will show the Site Name, Mentors, Supervisors, Term, and Label.

Creating a Second Placement for a Student

If you need to add another placement for a student in the same section:

  1. Navigate to the Placements tab in Placement Management.
  2. Click the More options button (three dots) to the right of the student's name.
  3. Select New Student Placement from the dropdown menu.
  4. Enter the information for the new placement and click Save.
