Overview
Attendance reporting in Student Success & Engagement will only include results for attendance statuses that are used by an institution to track attendance.
- How attendance is tracked is displayed in Attendance Configuration, found here.
- Enable Attendance Tracking determines whether attendance tracking is enabled. eg. recorded within SS&E, or if attendance tracking is disabled within SS&E and imported on the transcript course attendance data feed.
Attendance Statuses
When importing attendance records on the Transcript Course Attendance data feed, there is an option to use eight different attendance status types, as seen here. However, each individual institution may choose to use and import only some of the attendance status type options.
- The imported attendance status types may include: 'ABSENT', 'PRESENT', 'TARDY', 'EXCUSED', 'UNKNOWN', 'CANCELLED", 'ENTRY', 'NO_ENTRY'
- Attendance Statuses that are not in use will not display any results in SS&E Reporting
For institutions that are not importing attendance records, eg. entering attendance is enabled within SS&E, the attendance status options are 'PRESENT', 'TARDY', 'ABSENT', 'EXCUSED'.
Attendance Reports
By design, the Attendance Detail Report only displays records that are associated with an attendance status.
For example, only schools that import transcript course attendance records with an attendance status of "No Entry" will display results on the Attendance reports when filtering on "No Entry". If imported attendance records do not use "no entry" as an attendance status, or if attendance tracking is enabled within SS&E, then there will be no results for attendance type "No Entry".
- For this reason, the Attendance Summary Report found here is designed to assist with finding courses that are "missing attendance" due to instructors/systems not tracking/entering attendance records.
- Furthermore, if there is any attendance tracking status on a student record, even "No Entry", this student will not be considered as "missing attendance".
