How to Troubleshoot when CES Link Prompts for Login Instead of Auto-Authenticating

Overview

Users accessing Course Evaluations & Surveys (CES) via LMS links or email notifications containing the Passwordless Login URL placeholder should automatically authenticate into CES without entering a username or password.

If a user is prompted with a login screen instead of being automatically logged in, the issue is typically caused by local browser caching. CES uses temporary browser storage to manage seamless authentication, and outdated or corrupted cached data can disrupt this process.

Resolving Caching Issues

If users are redirected to a login screen instead of being automatically authenticated, they can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies: Clear the cache and cookies in your current web browser, close the browser entirely, reopen it, and click the authentication link again.

  2. Try an Alternate Web Browser: Open the authentication link in a different web browser
