We are pleased to announce an upcoming change to how user permissions are managed for Gateways and Applications. To provide a more cohesive and intuitive experience, we are transitioning Gateways and Program Applications to align permissions based on the hierarchy in Academics & Offices. This change is planned for release on Tuesday, May 19th.
What’s Changing?
Previously, your access to data was determined by associations in the System Administration area. Moving forward, the system will look directly at your Node Admin status in Academics & Offices. This ensures that if you manage a specific department or program (Node), you automatically see the relevant data without extra administrative steps.
Why is this better for you?
- Automatic Data Alignment: Admin and Faculty users will now see Gateways and Program Applications that naturally align with their assigned organizational nodes.
- Unified Experience: By leveraging the SL&L Node hierarchy, we are removing the need for "dual-entry" setup in Sys Admin.
- Flexible Evaluation: Users not assigned as a node admin will still be able to access and evaluate specific applications & licensure plans they are assigned to.
What do I need to do?
To ensure a smooth transition, please complete the following steps:
- Verify Node Assignments: Ensure all Admin and Faculty users are correctly assigned as Node Admins for their respective departments within the SL&L hierarchy.
- Review Evaluator Status: If you have Faculty who evaluate applications outside their typical hierarchy, verify they are explicitly added as Evaluators to those specific applications to maintain their access.
Note: There are no changes to student permissions
