Student Success and Engagement release notes for January 30, 2026

New: Student-to-Student Visibility Controls

Institutions can now control whether students are able to see or message other students via a single checkbox setting under Admin > Institution

  • A new “Student–student visibility” checkbox has been added (checked by default for all existing customers so behavior will not change on release unless updated).
  • When the checkbox is unchecked:
    • Students (including applicants and prospects) can only message staff, faculty, and administrators.
    • Student names/emails are removed from the To: recipient dropdown.
    • In mobile Courses, students see only the instructor, and the Roster tab is hidden or disabled.
  • When the checkbox is checked, current behavior remains unchanged: students can view and message other students as before.
  • Users with dual staff and student roles will be visible to students, even with the student-student visibility unchecked.

External calendar declines now cancel SS&E meetings

When a meeting connected to SS&E is declined from an external calendar (Google or Microsoft Outlook), the corresponding SS&E meeting will now correctly update to Cancelled, send cancellation notifications to both the student and advisor, and free the time slot for rescheduling. This applies when SS&E is integrated with Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook, regardless of whether the decline comes from the advisor or the student.

In case you missed it

We have introduced a comprehensive Meeting Reminders system designed to help students stay on track and reduce appointment no-shows. Please refer to the December 17, 2025 release notes.
