In some cases, a CES Admin or Project Admin may wish to reopen a survey. Reopening a survey gives students who have not yet submitted their responses another chance to complete and submit their survey.
NOTE: Surveys can be reopened for an entire project or for specific courses. While you cannot reopen a survey for an individual student, you can reopen it for the specific course that student is enrolled in.
Student Experience
- Access: Students can access the reopened survey through existing links or notifications in the LMS. If a new link needs to be sent, the CES Admin or Project Admin can create a new Non-Respondent Email (in the case of course evaluation surveys) or Anytime Email (in the case of opening for a specific course).
- Eligibility: Only students who did not previously complete the survey can access it. Students who already submitted their survey cannot take it again unless the CES Admin has reset their response.
- Notifications: Reopening a survey does not trigger an automated email. Student can access the reopened survey the same way they would have initially (typically a link in an invitation email or through the LMS).
Steps to Reopen a Survey for the Whole Project
If you are not using course-level dates and wish to reopen the survey for an entire project, navigate to the Properties tab and update the End Date to a future date. Once saved, the survey will remain available for all courses within that project until the new deadline.
Steps to Reopen a Survey for a Specific Course
If you only wish to reopen the survey for a specific course or a small number of courses, you can do so by adding or modifying the course-level survey end date for that course. To do so, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the Courses tab within your project.
- Locate the specific course and click the pencil icon (Edit).
- Scroll to the Course Level Dates section and click the arrow to expand it if it's not already expanded.
- Locate the Survey Access End field.
- Enter a future date in the End box.
- Click Save.
