Currently, the landing page for the catalog site is typically a place for links to the current and past catalogs. While important, this page often lacks any enhanced user experience. Here’s a look at a basic landing page:
With the new layout, access to the catalogs is still the main purpose of the page, but the style is modernized and visitors to the site can jump right to the programs or courses of the current catalogs.
To turn on the new layout, go to the Institution item and find the new section, Landing Page Fields. Check the “Use Dynamic Layout” checkbox to switch over to this new layout.
Next, the current catalogs need to be identified. To do this, go to the Calendar Year item, and select the new checkbox, “Is Current”. Now, any catalogs listed under this catalog year will be highlighted as the current catalogs.
See the new checkbox here:
Any catalogs listed within the calendar year item marked as "is current" will be the catalogs listed in this part of the layout:
Back on the Institution item, in the new Landing Page Fields section, there are a few more fields to fill out. Part of this layout includes Quick Access links, which are links to the programs and courses to the first catalog listed. There is also one spot for the administrator to select a page to highlight. This can be a catalog page, or an external site (in this example, it is a link to the Academic Policies).
To set up this Quick Access link, from the Landing Page Settings, enter the Custom Tile Title, Custom Tile Description and Custom Tile Link fields. Save the changes, preview the Institution item to the changes and publish the Institution item to see the changes live.
