Overview
A checkbox on the Catalog Cover item now allows you to exclude previous catalogs from being indexed by search engines [ex: Google and Bing] and produced in search results.
Exclude Specific Catalogs from Search Engines
As new catalogs are created year over year, it can cause confusion if older catalogs (which might need to stay published) are being returned in the results on popular search sites, such as Google and Bing.
Now, if a catalog should be excluded from these common search engine sites, administrators can easily exclude specific catalogs by selecting “Exclude From Search Engines” from the catalog item. The catalog will remain published, but it will no longer appear in search results.
Selecting this will add a new meta tag to this catalog item and all pages of that specific catalog, ensuring that search engines will not index or follow this site (which is common practice for all major search engines).
To ensure this is set properly, check the box, save the catalog item, and publish the changes.
Since we cannot guarantee when Google or any other site will crawl the catalog site, please reach out to support to learn more about accessing your site’s Google Search Console.
