Dynamic Layout for the Catalog Landing Page
Currently, the landing page for the catalog site is typically a place for links to the current and past catalogs. While important, this page often lacks any enhanced user experience. Here’s a look at a basic landing page:
With the new layout, access to the catalogs is still the main purpose of the page, but the style is modernized and visitors to the site can jump right to the programs or courses of the current catalogs.
To turn on the new layout, go to the Institution item and find the new section, Landing Page Fields. Check the “Use Dynamic Layout” checkbox to switch over to this new layout.
Next, the current catalogs need to be identified. To do this, go to the Calendar Year item, and select the new checkbox, “Is Current”. Now, any catalogs listed under this catalog year will be highlighted as the current catalogs.
See the new checkbox here:
Any catalogs listed within the calendar year item marked as "is current" will be the catalogs listed in this part of the layout:
Back on the Institution item, in the new Landing Page Fields section, there are a few more fields to fill out. Part of this layout includes Quick Access links, which are links to the programs and courses to the first catalog listed. There is also one spot for the administrator to select a page to highlight. This can be a catalog page, or an external site (in this example, it is a link to the Academic Policies).
To set up this Quick Access link, from the Landing Page Settings, enter the Custom Tile Title, Custom Tile Description and Custom Tile Link fields. Save the changes, preview the Institution item to the changes and publish the Institution item to see the changes live.
Course Outlines Available
Course Outlines turn the course data your institution already collects in Catalog and Curriculum Management into a ready-to-share outline for every course — automatically, with no extra data entry.
What is a Course Outline?
A Course Outline is a formatted, printable summary of a single course — built automatically from the course data your institution already maintains in Catalog and Curriculum Management. There's no separate document to create or update by hand: as soon as a course's data changes, its outline reflects that change.
Once Course Outlines are set up for your institution, they appear in two places:
• Course Outlines dashboard. Found under Curriculum Management, this dashboard lists every course outline in one place. You can search or filter to find a specific course, open its outline, or export the full list to a spreadsheet.

Setting up Course Outlines for your institution
Course Outlines are configured by our Support team in collaboration with your institution — there are two decisions to make before the outlines go live.
Which fields appear on the outline. Course Outlines are built from the course data you're already collecting, such as department, course description, credit hours, contact hours (lecture, lab, other), grading scheme, semester(s) offered, prerequisites, first year experience designation, capstone designation, and outcomes. You'll work with Support to choose which of these fields — and any others tracked in your catalog — should be included on the outline.
How the outline should look. Support will work with you on the layout and formatting of the outline itself — for example, how fields are grouped and ordered, and how the outline is styled to match your institution's preferences.
To get started, contact support@watermarkinsights.com . They'll walk you through field selection and layout and let you know once the outlines are live in your Course Outlines dashboard and online catalog.
