Hello!
We are pleased to announce two significant platform enhancements coming soon to Watermark Student Learning & Licensure. These updates deliver simplified support and increased control over data access, all launching on December 30th, 2025.
This announcement outlines the exciting features that are coming soon and what your Primary Administrators need to know.
New feature: Admin impersonation (You asked, we delivered!)
This is the feature you've been waiting for! We are releasing a highly anticipated new feature that allows institutional administrators to log in as other campus users.
This means better, faster, and more efficient support. Primary admins will be able to support and troubleshoot issues for your users directly without needing to submit a Watermark support ticket. We think this will be a game-changer for administrative efficiency.
Introducing new support access controls: Enhanced security and transparency
Watermark Student Learning & Licensure is updating our Sudo/Impersonation workflow to ensure that our products and services adhere to the highest security standards. As a system that manages significant institutional data, including Student Personally Identifying Information (PII), we believe that it is imperative to maintain high standards for data access controls.
This update enhances security control for your institution and individual users by introducing two key access measures:
- Organizational Control: A system-wide toggle, accessible only to Primary Administrators, will allow institutions to grant or revoke Watermark Support access to institutional data. Note that this toggle will be set to "On" by default.
- Individual User Control: Each user who submits a support ticket that requires Watermark to access their account (e.g. for troubleshooting or testing) will need to explicitly provide access for a time-bound period (24 hours, 48 hours, or 72 hours).
This enhancement gives your organization the ability to restrict or permit, at a detailed level whether Watermark teams can access your institutional data, and gives end users direct control over temporary access to their specific accounts.
What's next
These features will be released on December 30th, 2025. We are timing this change to occur after the busy season at the end of the semester.
Help Center articles with more detailed instructions will follow this notification to ensure your Primary Administrators have all the information they need.
