Staff Role Configuration

The Role Configuration screen is used to specify what permissions each type of staff member is granted.

There are different areas that each list multiple permissions available for each role. 

The following are a few examples of available permissions from different areas that are set by role:

General Permissions

Can View Coach

If enabled, users with this role can see the success coach of a student.

Can Follow Student

If enabled, users with this role can follow a student. Following a student allows a user to subscribe to events, alerts and achievements related to that student.

Can View News Feed

If enabled, the users home screen will include a feed of events, alerts and achievements related to students that they are subscribed to/advise. The user can opt to disable this in their settings.

Can Receive Daily Digest

If enabled, the user will receive a daily email containing the most recent events, alerts and achievements related to students that they are subscribed to/advise. The user can opt to disable this in their settings.

Finance

Can View Balance Due

Whether or not users with the role can view the balance due on the student Finances tab.

Can View Financial Aid Award Amount

Whether or not users with the role can view the financial aid award amount of the student Finances tab.

User Info

Can See Activity Tab

Allow staff accounts to view the Activity tab (required for all permissions related to information inside the activity tab).
Can See Alerts Tab
Allow staff accounts to view the Alerts tab.

User Settings

Can Automatically Follow Instructed Students

This setting will enable automatic following of students enrolled in courses instructed by the logged-in staff user.

Once enabled, automatic following is set by the user from each staff member's "Caseload Settings" found in SS&E-top right dropdown.

Edit Role

To alter the permissions for a given role, click the role name, and then click on Edit to change the permissions for this role. Toggle the checkboxes to grant or revoke each permission.

After selecting a role, the following screen will appear:

Adjunct Faculty Role

By definition, the Adjunct Faculty role can only see students that are in course sections they are currently instructing.

In addition, the presence of an Adjunct Faculty role will override the permissions and settings for any other roles the user has.
