Overview
This article explains how Planning & Self-Study (P&SS) supports institutions using Blackboard’s cross-listed courses. This functionality ensures that all relevant course activities and assessment data are accurately reflected for reporting on learning outcomes.
Aligning Cross-listed Activities
Assessment activities from cross-listed Blackboard courses are available for selection when adding or editing a measure's alignment. To pull these results into an Assessment Plan, follow the alignment steps listed in the article below.
Adding an Alignment using Advanced Blackboard Integration
Data Mapping and Syncing
The system retrieves data based on how courses are connected in System Administration. Please review the Required Data Mapping article below.
Required Data Mapping (Advanced Blackboard)
Mapping Options
To ensure correct data retrieval, one of the following mapping methods must be used in System Administration:
- Map individual child courses from Blackboard to their corresponding course sections.
- Map the parent course shell from Blackboard to the corresponding course section.
Data Synchronization Schedules
Data updates occur based on the term associated with the course:
- Current or Continuous Terms: Data updates in P&SS automatically via a scheduled job every two weeks.
- Past or Future Terms: Data retrieval for these terms requires a manual sync. Contact the support team to trigger this process.
Key Reminders
- Integration Requirement: These steps apply specifically to the Advanced Blackboard Integration.
- User Role/Permissions: When creating the user role for the integration, these permissions must be assigned to cross-listed courses: Administrator Panel (Courses) > Courses > Edit > Course Properties.
- Data Accuracy: Consistent mapping between Blackboard and System Administration is necessary for activities to appear in Planning & Self-Study.
