Course Section Mapping

The purpose of the course section mapping is to associate Blackboard courses with System Administration course sections using Course ID's.

Course ID Mapping

In Blackboard every course has a course ID that can be used to integrate with P&SS.

The Course ID must be added to the course section in System Administration in the section ID field.

  • Navigate to the Courses and Sections tab in System Administration.
  • To add sections manually, click Add New on the top right corner.

  • Add a new course section and incorporate the Course ID (from Blackboard) into the Section ID as shown below. Note: Users can map either the child courses or the parent course in Blackboard to the corresponding section.

  • If bulk import is preferred, click Import Data and Import Enrollments.

  • Download the Course Sections template and fill in the necessary course section data (Course ID/Section ID)
  • Upload the template and complete the import process

User Mapping

The purpose of mapping users is to enable the viewing of assessment results for enrolled students of a Blackboard course in P&SS.

  • Navigate to the Courses and Course Sections tab in System Administration.
  • Click on Import Enrollments.

  • Download the template, and prepare a CSV file with the student data.

  • Once the template is set up, Browse to Select File and upload the file. Once the upload is complete, students will be enrolled in the mapped course section.

Person Basic and Student Term Attributes

To enable filtering of assessment results by course and student attributes, the following data must be imported:

  • Course Sections
  • Modality (Course Section Attributes)
  • Primary Major (Student Term Attributes)
  • Race/Ethnicity (Basic Person Attributes)
  • Gender (Basic Person Attributes)
  • Generation (Basic Person Attributes)
  • Pell Eligibility (Basic Person Attributes)

Course Sections: Refers to the course section available based on the selected alignments.

Import Process: Please see steps above.

Modality (Course Section Attribute): Refers to the delivery method of a course section.

Import Process:

  • Prepare a CSV file with course section data including the delivery method column.

  • Navigate to Course and Sections> Import Data > Import Course Sections in System Administration.

Primary Major (Student Term Attribute): Indicates the primary major of a student.

Import Process:

  • Prepare a CSV file with student term data including the primary_major column.

  • Click on People > Import Data > Import Student Term Attributes in System Administration.

  • Upload the CSV file.

Race/Ethnicity (Basic Person Attribute): Indicates the race/ethnicity of a student.

Import Process:

  • Prepare a CSV file with Basic Person attributes data including the Race_Ethnicity column.

  • Upload the CSV file.

Gender (Basic Person Attributes): Indicates the gender of a student.

Import Process:

  • Prepare a CSV file with Basic Person attributes data including the Gender column.

  • Navigate to People > Import Data > Import Basic Person Attributes in System Administration.

  • Upload the CSV file.

Pell Eligibility (Basic Person Attributes): Indicates the Pell Eligibility of student.

Import Process:
