SS&E LMS Integration: LMS Migration Guide

Overview

Student Success & Engagement integrates with several LMSs to provide updated LMS data to a student’s success team. This article provides instructions on migrating the SS&E integration from one LMS to another LMS. The details outlined in this guide are subject to change as Watermark processes and requirements change over time.

There are three general types of LMS data that are imported into SS&E: Course SectionsEnrollments, and Assignments. The data sync for all LMS data requires that SIS & LMS course sections be matched up via the LMS Course Resolver or manually in SS&E.

LMS Migration

Watermark Technical Services must update the Course Resolver to ensure that SIS and LMS sections can be matched and synced from the new LMS to SS&E.

Migrating from one LMS to another includes the following steps.

  1. Request a Small Technical Project on the Watermark Academy 6-8 weeks before your LMS migration to ensure time for scheduling the Course Resolver update by Watermark Technical Services.
  2. LMS Administrator completes the LMS integration steps within the new LMS (complete the LMS portion anytime).
IMPORTANT: Do not update the LMS connection details within SS&E until you are ready to switch LMSs ("In Student Success & Engagement" section).

  3. Watermark Technical Services updates the Course Resolver to match SIS and LMS sections (we recommend making this change between terms).
  4. SS&E Administrator updates the LMS connection within SS&E (we recommend making this change between terms). Instructions for this step are included in the LMS Integration Guides above.

Only one LMS connection is supported in SS&E at a time. It is recommended to consider the best time to make this change - typically after the last term in the old LMS and before the first term in the new LMS.
