Advanced D2L Integration- (Coming Soon)
Previously, our D2L integration only supported alignment to rubric criteria, which can be limiting. With this advanced integration, it is now possible to align measures to both rubrics and activities.
How it Works
To get started, users click "Add Alignment" and select D2L Brightspace as the source. From there, they can choose to align by rubric, with support for selecting multiple rubrics at once. Each selected rubric displays helpful context, such as the rubric name, associated term, course details, and the number of linked activities.
Users can review and adjust their selections before finalizing the alignment.
Once rubrics are aligned, users can proceed to create a measure and define what constitutes "met" performance. This can be based on either the overall rubric score or specific rubric criteria. Thresholds can be configured accordingly.
Note: Once a rubric has been aligned in a measure, it cannot be aligned again in the same measure.
Alignment by Activity
With the advanced integration, users can now align measures directly to assignments and quizzes in D2L Brightspace.
To begin, users click "Add Alignment", select D2L Brightspace as the source, and choose "Align by Activity". After selecting one or more terms, all relevant activities from those course sections will be displayed for selection.
Users can select multiple activities at once and review details such as the activity name, term, course, section, and grading method (points or rubric). Filters allow for refined activity selection by course, section, or rubric—with cascading logic to simplify the process.
Once finalized, activities are aligned and users can create a measure. "Met" criteria can be defined in two ways:
- Point-Based Activities: Specify a whole-number score to meet the threshold.
- Rubric-Based Activities: Set criteria using either the overall rubric score or individual rubric components.
Note: Like with rubrics, an activity can only be aligned once per measure.
Aggregated Results Chart and Filters for Advanced D2L
A new Aggregated Results Chart now appears within each measure, visualizing how many assessments have Met or Not Met the defined criteria—based on rubric scores, criteria, or point thresholds.
This chart only includes alignments from course sections that fall within the assessment plan’s reporting period. If no applicable data is found (either due to timing or filters), an empty state message will appear. Users will also see a Help Center link for quick access to documentation about the integration workflow. (Coming Soon)
Advanced D2L Disaggregation by Filters
Administrators and contributors can now compare assessment results across multiple categories within a selected measure. Available categories include:
- Modality
- Course Section
- Primary Major
- Race/Ethnicity
- Gender
- Generation
- Pell Eligibility
Key Features
Search & Filter: Quickly locate and select options within each category using dynamic filtering. Selected option counts are shown, and filters can be cleared at any time.
Filter Sync with Aggregate Chart: Comparison chart options reflect selections made in the aggregate chart. For example, selecting a modality will limit course section and other category options to that modality. Student filters (e.g., Gender, Race/Ethnicity) will only show data based on selections made in the aggregate chart.
Accordion Display: Selected category options appear in an accordion format. Each option displays a comparison chart showing Met/Not Met percentages and assessment counts. Users can view up to 3 options per category at a time. An alert will appear if the limit is exceeded.
Chart Management: Users can delete comparison charts with a confirmation prompt. Deleted charts are permanently removed, and new charts reflect updated selections.
Smart Prompts: If aggregate chart filters change in a way that impacts existing comparison charts, users are notified and can choose to cancel or continue editing. All charts update automatically to reflect current filters and selections.
Resources Tab for Self-Studies Available to Administrators
*Note: This feature is only available to CAS Subscribers.
A resources tab has now been added to the Self-Study module for administrators. It is also accessible even if there are no self-studies created.
The resources tab will provide access to CAS Self-Assessment guides. The guides will be available to view in another tab.
