  • Select from two role options. If the user is an Administrator OR Admin-Limited within D2L, then they will select the Administrator role and search for the Courses to which they have access. If the user is an Instructor within D2L, they will select the Instructor option and can then select from the course(s) they have access to.

In D2L Brightspace, the "Admin" and "Admin - Limited" roles are designed to provide administrative access, but with different levels of permissions:

Admin Role:

  • Full system-wide access across all courses, users, and tools.
  • Can create, edit, and delete any course.

Admin Limited Role:

  • Restricted administrative privileges, often limited to specific departments, org units, or tools.
  • May only access certain courses or areas within the system as defined by organizational hierarchy.
  • Can perform course-level tasks like editing or managing content, enrolling users, and setting up gradebooks, but only for the courses they are assigned to.
  • Once a role is selected, they can select a specific academic year from the dropdown menu. The academic years are specific to the academic/reporting years created in Planning and Self-Study. All of the available academic years for the institution are displayed in the dropdown.

A Select Course page showing options for choosing a role in D2L, including Administrator and a highlighted Instructor option, along with dropdown fields for selecting an academic year and a course for aligning results.

  • After selecting an academic year, instructors will automatically see all courses falling within the date range of that academic year. Courses are displayed in a two-column format, showing course code and course name. Sorting of courses is alphanumeric. Courses are presented as single-select radio options. Once selected, the course is displayed in the footer beside the "Selected Course" option. If no course is selected, "None" is displayed.

A Select Course page showing selected options for role and academic year, with the Instructor role highlighted, a chosen academic year displayed, a search field for selecting a course highlighted, and a list of available courses shown in a table format.

  • Instructors can also use the search option to search for specific courses. If no results are found, a helpful message guides users to refine their search or select a different academic year. Pagination is implemented to display up to 50 records per page.

An Align Results page showing role selection options for Administrator and a highlighted Instructor role, along with required fields for selecting an academic year highlighted and a course, including an empty academic year dropdown and a message prompting the user to choose an academic year.

  • After selecting a course and clicking next, users will be directed to selecting Artifacts, Assignments, Rubrics and Results Settings.
  • The rubric list will filter automatically based on the selected assignment/topic. The user will then be able to choose to pull either the overall rubric score or rubric criteria results into Planning & Self-Study.
An Align Rubric page showing selected measure details along with dropdowns for choosing an assignment and rubric, settings for selecting how scores will be used, options for criteria groups, and performance levels for mapping rubric results.

Select the Rubric from the list & choose overall score or rubric criteria results.

  • Once aligned, the filtered results from D2L Brightspace will display in the measure in Planning & Self-Study, as well as in the Annual Report generated from within Planning & Self-Study.
