Administrator: Survey Builder - Types of Survey Questions
Surveys in Course Evaluations & Surveys:
Can contain any combination of available survey question types.
Be organized using survey labels.
Can be configured with branching logic.
When creating or editing a survey you will see numeric weightings for each response option, as well as additional properties selected for each question.
Single Selection Question
Single Selection Question type is where the student will pick from one of many options. This works best for yes/no and likert-type scale questions and can be formatted both vertically and horizontally.
Multiple Selection Question
Multiple Selection Question type allows the student to check all that apply and is only appropriate when asking the student to select multiple or potentially multiple responses from multiple options.
Matrix Question type has a common response scale and multiple items being evaluated on the same response scale. Here, the student would go through and respond to the different items from one response scale.
Numeric Selection Question
Numeric Selection Question type allows you to setup numeric ranges using a slider and the student can then input a numeric selection based on that range.
Open-Ended Text Response Question
Open-Ended Text Response Question Type is for write-in responses and/or comments.
The Survey Label is text that you can add anywhere in the body of your survey to organize, write instructional text or add a thank you message at the end. You can insert these survey labels anywhere throughout your survey to add these text breaks.
Branching Logic in Surveys
Branching logic (sometimes called skip logic) allows the CES Administrator to manage the questions presented to a respondent, based on the user’s response options.
Previewing the Survey
This option allows you to preview the survey as a Student/Respondent would expect to see.
Export to PDF:
Detailed: This option displays the questions you created with detail on the additional properties for a question. A detailed view can allow the user to quickly audit the survey and check for questions that have reversed weightings, are enabled for team taught, or have branched logic.
Basic: This option is a basic export of the survey.
Node Administrators with the Survey Administrator role only have the ability to see surveys that they have created; they cannot see surveys created by other node Administrators with the Survey Administrator role.
If node Administrators with the Survey Administrator role would like other node Administrators to preview their survey(s), they will have to export as PDF and provide the exported PDF file.
