Note(s): Before an Assessment Portfolio Template can be created, the necessary Artifact Templates and Assessment Tools need to be created from the Administration tab.
Create an Assessment Portfolio Template
- Click on Portfolios in the sidebar, then Templates.
- Click on Create New Portfolio Template.
Step 1: General Information
- Enter a name for the template. This can be a generic name, excluding specific course numbers or terms, as the template can be used multiple times for the current and subsequent semesters. When you send the template, you will have a chance to rename it for better organization.
- Enter a Description (optional).
- If you choose to allow additional artifacts, students may submit more than you require.
- If you to choose to enforce completion, students will be required to attach all artifacts before submitting.
- You may make assessors anonymous to the student.
- Click Next.

Step 2: Define Assessment Sequence
Here you will define the assessment sequence for the portfolio template. The assessment sequence can have one or more stages for assessment.

- Enter the Title for the stage.
- Click
to create a placeholder for the assessors who will receive the portfolios.
- Each placeholder requires a Title, a Role and the Assessment Tools that will be used for evaluating the portfolio.
- Enter a Placeholder Name (e.g., Faculty 1, Faculty 2).
- Select a Role from the dropdown menu.
- You may make the student anonymous to the assessor.
- Select the Assessment Tools that will be used by this assessor by placing a checkmark next to the corresponding form.
- Determine if those assessments will be shared with students using Show to Student?
- Click Add.
- Repeat steps 3-4 until you have created placeholders for each stage.
- Click Next.

Step 3: Define Portfolio Tabs
- Enter names for each tab you intend to use in the portfolio. The tabs divide the portfolio template into sections for organization.
- Click Next.

Step 4: Define Portfolio Contents
This step creates a separate section for each tab defined in Step 3.
- Visible to: Indicate which assessors can view each tab by selecting their corresponding checkbox.
- Instructions (optional): Insert directions for each section of the portfolio.
- Click
to add a placeholder for required artifact type(s) the student must submit.
- Select an Attachment Type from the artifact types available.
- You may select a Reflection Form (optional), if one is required.
- Select the Standard Body (optional) the selected artifact meets or needs to meet from the dropdown menu.
- Click Add.
- Repeat steps 1-5 for each section/tab you have created.
- Click Next.

Step 5: Review and Finish
- Make the Portfolio Template active, by selecting Yes.
- Click Save.
Note(s):
- You cannot send the template to students unless it is active.
- If your templates for different portfolios vary slightly, you can copy a template and make adjustments.
