Clearing Your Browsing History (Cache)

Your browser may save certain images or webpages to make page loading quicker the next time you visit a site. While this is helpful, temporary internet files may interfere with content you want to enter on a page or in a form. Clearing your browser of these stored files is recommended on a periodic basis.

In most computer-based web browsers, to open the menus used to clear your cache, cookies, and history, press Ctrl-Shift-Delete (Windows) or Command-Shift-Delete (Mac). To know more about your particular browser, see below. Note: Your browser needs to be open to complete any of the steps below!

Chrome

To manually clear your cache, go to Menu (the three tiered “hamburger” on the upper right), Settings Show advanced settings. Under Privacy, select “Clear browsing data.” Select Browsing history, Download history, Cookies and other site and plugin data, and Cached images and files from the menu. Select “Clear browsing data” to finish.

Firefox PC

In Mozilla’s Firefox browser, clear the cache from the “Clear All History” area in the browser’s Options. Once there, check “Cache” and then tap or click “Clear Now.”
You can also clear from Firefox’s Menu button (the three-tiered “hamburger” button) via “Options,” then “Privacy,” and finally the “clear your recent history” link.

Firefox Mac

Click on Firefox in the menu bar, then “Preferences.” Click on “Advanced,” and then “Network.” Click on “Clear Now” in the “Cached Web Content” section to finish.

Safari Mac

First click on Safari in the menu bar and then select “Empty cache.” Next, click on the “Empty” button. Finally, click on the refresh icon. You can also type Option-Command-E with your keyboard.

Safari PC

If the top menu is not visible, click the ALT key. Select “Edit” in the menu bar. Click on “Empty Cache…” in the menu, and then “Empty” in the pop-up window.

Edge

In Microsoft’s Edge browser, included in their newer versions of Windows, clearing the cache is done via the “Clear browsing data” menu. Once open, check “Cached data” and “files” and then tap or click “Clear.”

Internet Explorer*

Microsoft stopped its support for Internet Explorer in 2021, so we advise to use an up to date browser.

Tk20 recommends you use the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, or Safari as your browser. Some browsers will update automatically, but we suggest verifying your version from time to time. Not sure which version you have? Visit whatismybrowser.com to find out, and go to browsehappy.com to update.
