As a part of the ongoing lifecycle of product innovation, we sometimes discontinue the sale and support of certain products and services. On December 31st, 2024, this discontinuance will apply to the Video Assessment feature within Livetext by Watermark.
Why are we making this decision?
Removing functionality is always a tough decision, as we know there will always be some users who find value and utility in the feature provided. Unfortunately, the integrated third party vendor that provided the services for streaming and commenting on videos announced that it will be discontinuing support for our integration effective December 30th, 2024; therefore, we are making the difficult decision to remove support for Video Assessment in LiveText by Watermark at the end of the year.
What does this mean to me?
This change in LiveText will remove the video assessment feature that allows faculty or supervisors to stream student uploaded videos and comment directly on those videos at a particular point in time. No other functionality will be impacted.
Videos previously uploaded to Livetext will remain available, but the in-line comments will no longer appear. We can share the comments with you upon request and are currently exploring options to display those comments on screen within the LiveText product, even if they will no longer be attached to points in time in the video.
No replacement of the Video Assessment functionality is planned for LiveText by Watermark.
