Faculty Career Pathways is a paid module within Faculty Success, designed to streamline and simplify career management for your faculty. By centralizing career tracks, timelines, and milestone in one location, it provides faculty members, administrators, and institutional leaders with a powerful tool to enhance career progression with certainty and ease.
Benefits of Career Pathways
- Transparency in Career Progression: Career pathways replaces complex handbooks and outdated requirements with a comprehensive, visual guide to faculty career milestones. The module ensures faculty members always have access to updated requirements, empowering them to stay on track and confidently prepare for their next career steps.
- Efficiency for Administrators: Manual tracking and cumbersome spreadsheets become obsolete with career pathways. By automating the career management process, administrators save time and minimize the risk of errors, allowing them to focus on other administrative tasks.
- Flexibility to Institutional Needs: Career pathways is customizable to align with your institution's unique requirements. Institutions can define multiple career tracks, base events, and exception events to accomodate diverse faculty roles and milestones.
Key Features
- Career Paths: Career paths define the tracks available for faculty at an institution, such as tenure, non-tenure, clinical, adjunct or other tracks. These tracks include milestones like annual reviews, promotion eligibility, and sabbatical opportunities, tailored to the specific needs of each unit or department.
- Base Events: Base events represent the milestones within a career track. Examples include annual reviews, reappointment reviews, and faculty development activities. Administrators can create and edit these events to build versions of them to assign to faculty, ensuring consistency across faculty career paths.
- Exception & Result Events: Exception events, such as family leave or sabbaticals, allow institutions to adjust individual faculty timelines as needed for these events. Result events capture the outcomes of reviews or milestones, ensuring accurate documentation of career progression.
- My Career: Each faculty member will be able to see a visual of their assigned career path timeline through My Career. Timelines can be updated by the Administrator to reflect exception or results events, providing a real-time view of their career progression.
- Integration with Reporting and Review, Promotion & Tenure (Workflow): In 2025, Career Pathways will offer reporting and workflow integration. This will enable institutions to analyze career track data and workflow outcomes related to career progression, facilitating informed decisions to support faculty development. Follow the Faculty Success Release Notes page to be informed of when these integrations will become available.
