Reported Issue
A report that used to run successfully is now unable to run and generates an error "Error running filter -Report query timeout exceeded", or keeps spinning on a white page without completing.
Resolution
In most cases, when a report suddenly stops working, this is because the report itself is broken, and is not related to the underlying data.
In order to fix this, we recommend recreating a new report with a new report name using the same exact columns, filters, and criteria and then testing the "new" report to make sure it runs successfully.
- Once the new report is working, you can remove the old/broken report by selecting the report and then clicking on Edit -> Delete. Then you can rename the new report back to the original name if desired.
If the new report fails to complete, please open a support ticket so that we can check the filter criteria that is causing the timeout.
When opening a support ticket please include the following information:
- What happens when you run the report as a different user? Does it still time out after the same report is set up and run by another user?
- Are all SS&E reports timing out?
- Are all similar SS&E reports timing out for all users?
- Does the error go away when you remove all the Filters criteria? If yes, when you add the report filters back, row by row, when does the timeout error re-appear?
