GoReact Integration Admin User Guide

GoReact Integration

Go beyond grades with the new Student Learning & Licensure (SL&L) GoReact integration. This integration enables point-in-time feedback that students can use in the classroom and throughout their careers. Combining GoReact's feedback tools with your existing SL&L processes will improve the educational experience and optimize your institutional and programmatic assessment practices.

This guide provides instructions, best practices, and troubleshooting tips for a smooth implementation.

Getting Started

Terms used in this guide include:

  • GoReact Template: An SL&L Activity Template that includes the GoReact Component.
  • GoReact Component: An activity component added to a template that allows students and assessors to access the GoReact Assignment.
  • GoReact Activity: The activity created in SL&L that uses a GoReact Template.
  • GoReact Assignment: The assignment within GoReact that is accessed through the GoReact component, allowing users to access GoReact-specific features.

To begin using the GoReact integration, ensure the setup steps have been completed. Contact the Watermark Support team to submit a request for setup.

Create a GoReact Activity Template

From the Academics & Offices page, navigate to your organization and select Templates. From the Templates tab, select Create Template.

A new template category called GoReact Activity has been introduced.

The Create Template screen with GoReact Activity selected and the 'Workflow' section highlighted.

NOTE: The GoReact integration is currently only available for the Internship Workflow and Standard Workflow.

Configure the GoReact Component

After selecting either the Internship or Standard workflow and clicking CREATE, you are taken to the template builder, which includes the GoReact component. This component acts as a placeholder; once a GoReact Activity is published within a course section, GoReact will load in its location.

The GoReact component and a text component are available by default and cannot be removed or relocated.

You can add additional components and pages, but the first page and the GoReact component cannot be deleted. To make your GoReact Template available for use, select SAVE. GoReact Templates function like other activity templates, but they cannot be used with the Activity Scheduler at this time.

The option to use GoReact Templates with the Activity Scheduler is being explored as a future enhancement.

GoReact Activity Setup

There are two options for setting up activities in SL&L:

  1. Directly within the course section.
  2. From the Templates tab, distributing activities to multiple sections at once.

Creating an Activity within a course section

  1. Navigate to the course section and select Create Activity.
  2. From the Create Activity page, select a template that has been created with the GoReact component (noted with “GoReact Template”).

The Create Activity page with a GoReact template selected and the 'Distribution Details' section highlighted.

  3. After selecting PUBLISH, the activity will be available to students for submissions based on the Visible on / Open for Submission dates selected for the activity, without any further setup steps.
  4. However, if you would like to make changes to the GoReact Assignment settings after selecting PUBLISH, select the Open GoReact option.

The Activity summary page with the 'Open GoReact' button highlighted.

Opening GoReact will launch the GoReact Assignment in a new browser tab. From the GoReact assignment, select Edit.

The GoReact assignment page opened, with the 'Edit' option selected in the assignment menu.

To learn more about the GoReact settings for individual activities, visit the GoReact Help Desk page for Assignment Settings.

The option to use GoReact Assignment Master Templates with the SL&L Integration is being explored as a potential future enhancement.

Student View of an SL&L GoReact Activity

When a student selects an activity created with a GoReact template, GoReact will load directly within SL&L. The student can then use all of the GoReact Assignment options, such as uploading, recording, or linking a video for their assignment.

When the student has completed the activity in SL&L, they must select SUBMIT to give their reviewer (instructor/mentor/supervisor) access to their activity in SL&L.
