Faculty Career Pathways Insights

Overview

The Insights tab helps administrators track faculty career milestones, such as promotions and reviews, by displaying them in easy-to-read charts. Administrators can filter data by academic year and click on specific chart segments to view detailed lists of the individual faculty members involved. The tool also allows for exporting these details into CSV files for more in-depth reporting and sharing.

Understanding the Insights Tab in Career Pathways

The Insights tab displays the number of faculty members with key career events during a selected Academic Year.

  • Base Event Type Counts: This chart shows the top six most frequent career events occurring in the selected academic year.
  • Result Event Type Counts: This chart details the outcomes of career events, such as promotions and tenure.

Academic Year Selector

Quickly switch between past, present, and future Academic Years to view changes in event numbers over time. The filter defaults to the current year, offering a range of the last 10 and the next 7 academic years.

Base Event Type Counts

This section includes various event types. Only the top six most frequently occurring event types display individually. All other event types aggregate into an Other category.

Base Event Types include:

  • Annual Review
  • Application for Funding
  • Conflict of Interest
  • Credentialing
  • Expertise
  • Mentoring
  • Promotion
  • Promotion and Tenure
  • Sabbatical Leave
  • Tenure
  • Other

Result Event Type Counts

This section displays results related to specific career events.

Result Event Types include:

  • Hired with Credits
  • Leave
  • Promotion Event
  • Tenure Event
  • Other

Drilldown Data from Insights

Administrators have the ability to drill down into specific chart segments to identify faculty members and events associated with Base Event and Result Event counts.

Accessing Event Details

Follow these steps to view the specific data comprising a chart segment:

  1. Navigate to the Insights tab within the Career Pathways module.

  2. Hover over a specific chart segment (e.g., Annual Review) to display the aggregate count. The 'Overview' page showing the 'Event Type Counts by Academic Year' chart, with a tooltip pointing to the 'Annual Review Type Event' and the option to view the drilldown.

  3. Click View Drilldown to open the table.

  4. Review the paginated table of faculty members. The table includes columns for Faculty Name, Event Title, Event Date (Start), Rank, Organization, and Hire Date. The 'Annual Review Drilldown' page for the 2025 - 2026 Academic Year showing the Annual Performance Report event details.

    Filter by Event Title: Inside the Details Panel, a dropdown allows to filter the list by specific Event Titles. This filter includes all events (active and archived) associated with the selected Event Type that have instances in the current data set.

Exporting Data from Insights

Administrators can export data directly from the Insights drilldown view to support advanced reporting and offline analysis. 

How it Works

  1. Open the Details Panel for a specific chart segment by clicking on View Drilldown.The 'Overview' page showing the 'Event Type Counts by Academic Year' chart, with a tooltip pointing to the 'Annual Review Type Event' and the option to 'View the drilldown.'

  3. A loading state will appear. The file downloads automatically once processing is complete.

Note: The exported file follows this naming convention: [Event Type] [Base or Result Event] [Academic Year].csv.
Example: Annual Review_Base Events_2025-2026.csv

CSV Export will include all on screen headers from the Details Panel along with User ID, Email, Event Date (Start Date), Associated Result/Base Events.
