By design, canceled course sections are removed from both the Student Courses tab and the Instructor Courses tab.
This means that canceled course sections will not display on the Student record in SS&E under any status dropdown!
To clarify:
- A "canceled" course section status imports from the SIS on the Course Section data feed. More information click SIS Import Definitions.
- Canceled course sections do not display in SS&E, no matter what the "transcript course" i.e. "student enrollment" status displays in the Transcript Course data feed view.
- Course Section Status takes precedence over Transcript Course transcriptCourseStatusId.
Frequently Asked Questions
When do dropped or withdrawn courses appear on the Transcript tab?
Whether a dropped course appears on a student's Transcript tab depends on when the course was dropped and the resulting grade:
- Courses Not Displayed: If a course is dropped before the course starts, during the add/drop period, or if the student is marked as NA (Never Attended) and dropped during census, the course will not show on the transcript because the student never officially attended the course.
- Courses Displayed (Withdrawn): If the student drops the course after it has started and receives a grade indicating a withdrawal (such as W, WF, WP, FW, etc.), the course will appear on the transcript. This indicates that the student started the course but was subsequently withdrawn.
Note: A status of WITHDRAWN appears on the transcript tab, whereas a status of DROPPED does not. (This should align with the grade values mentioned above, but technically, it’s the status that determines whether the course appears on the transcript tab.)
