Question Types without Likert Values

One of our programs would like to set up a targeted survey with some questions that require likert point scaling, but one question that does not.  

Is there a question type that can accommodate this need?  I do not see one and have advised the program rethink its questions, but they're not super excited about that.

Any ideas?
