We set a custom question period to end at 11:59 PM on 11/23, but an instructor who attempted to add custom questions at 9:00 PM pn 11/23 received an error that said the custom question period had ended. It had not at that point and I am wondering if anyone has seen similar behavior in their eval projects?
We started seeing this happening back in March/April and have had an open ticket about it since then. I consistently see deadline display discrepancies with customization extensions too where the deadline is 11:59pm but it shows 1:59am or 2:59am in the instructor interface and they are still locked out of customization early.
We started building in a “soft deadline” for customization for a different reason, but it has helped with this issue. We usually close customization on the Friday before evals open to students the following Monday. In our email communications to instructors, we state the deadline is 5pm (even though it's actually 11:59pm) and then have the weekend to help anyone who missed the deadline and needs an extension or ran into any issues near the deadline. It is usually a small number of instructors who need an extension or run into an issue near the deadline, so it's not too difficult for me to manage that over the weekend before evals open.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I'd also be happy to connect with you or anyone else to talk about how you're using and encouraging instructor customization. We have a low percentage of instructors who take advantage of it and would be interested in hearing about strategies anyone has used to increase instructor customization adoption.
Kim Brantley time zone (ET) isn't the problem. The instructor was maybe 30 miles from campus and opened a ticket three hours before the custom question period was to have ended.
Greg Bruhns Would you be willing to provide your ticket number so I can reference it with support? Thank you for offering to speak about this. I'll take that to our eval folks and see if they'd be interested in a conversation. Support is saying a browser cache clear is necessary. Is that an effective fix in your experience?
Sure, no problem. The open ticket I have with them is 180527. The last update I got in the ticket was 6 months ago.
I don't think I've tried clearing browser cache when I've noticed the time display discrepancies. I can do some testing, but I've been seeing this for so long I'm sure there's been a cache clearing at some point.
Thank you both for the conversation around this! Our Tech Team is actively looking into this. We should have a resolution soon but I don't have an estimated time of resolution yet. We will follow up in your individual tickets once he have a firm date.

What is your time zone set for? And what time zone is the instructor in?
