We are new to CES this semester and utilising the survey notification pop up that is in Canvas. Our pilot showed us that 70% of students entered the survey this way in comparison to the scheduled emails, and in 8 days we have reached a response rate that we normally achieve over a 6 week period! However! Students are reporting to staff that they are sick of the pop up appearing every time they log in and staff are now concerned students feedback will not be reliable because they will be completing the survey just to get rid of it.
Anyone have any of these experiences? I realise we cannot adjust the frequency of these pop ups (would be great!) but hoping to hear some other stories whether students will uprise š or will responses get comprimised?
At first, I actually thought the number of pop-up messages was a mistake and even submitted a ticket about it. (I'm still new to my role.) Iāve since learned itās intentional, but it does make me worry about notification fatigue for students. I wish this were something we could adjust in the settings.
In addition to being the Manager of Evaluation at my university, Iām also taking a few courses as a student. From the student side, the survey pop-ups have definitely been frustrating. I agree that this could impact the quality of the survey results, and itās something Iām concerned about at my institution as well.
There is a setting in the project properties āStudent Survey Notification Settingsā that you can set to enable limit of the canvas pop up. we use that had hide notification for 1 day. Works well for us.Ā
