Using Gateways for Career Services?

Hello: We just started using Gateways for field placements in the Teacher Education program. We don't have much experience with it yet, but would like to start adapting it to be used by other programs. Does anyone in this community use Gateways for Career Services or a similar program?

Thanks,

Anna (Longwood University, VA)

  • Hi Anna,

It's Sarah at Wright State. We started the process of using Gateways for our Honors program, but came to a dead stop when we figured out our students were added a the program level. Since students are at the program level and once in the progra, they will not cross over to other areas, we would need to create an honors program gateway for each program since students do not cross programs into gateways. In order to have only one gateway, we would need to move our students up the the university level and then they would have access to that gateway. We have comprised and will move our honors students up to the college level and I will now build one gateway for each college.

To help clarify, our levels of import of students into SysAdmin are University - College- Program. We setup sysadmin to imported our students at the program level. Depending on how your students are imported it will make a difference. If you want to talk more or have any questions, please let me know.

  • Dear Sarah,

Thanks so very much!!! The information you provide is incredibly helpful and valuable  not just for the Career Services and Honors Program options, but also to help us navigate the issues we're experiencing right now. Let me get my head more in the application of Gateways and I will reach out for more advice, if you don't mind.

    With appreciation and gratitude,

  • Sounds good. We are working on changing our student import with SysAdmin and once we get the honors program up and working within the next couple of weeks I'll have a working (fingers crossed) sample to show. I completly understand the wrapping your head around this part.
