Response Editor

Is any one using the Response Editor? What is the protocol? Is there a form that faculty use to request a review of a comment?

  • Hi Kim,

We have used the Response Editor here at Stanford. We have a student-to-student open response question on our standard survey ("What would you like to say about this course to a student who is considering taking it in the future?") and the results of that question are included in our Student Reporting. Instructors can contact our team directly to initiate a redaction request to responses to this question which then goes to a panel of staff and faculty to review and ultimately decide if the comment will be removed or remain. We do not allow selective editing of the comments, so it's an all or nothing decision.

Our Student Reporting is released approximately 30 days after the course evaluations close, so if the review period is close to that release, we will usually use the Response Editor to replace the comment with a "-" so that the comment is not released while it is being reviewed. Our previous system had a way to flag comments so they would not appear in the reporting, but CES doesn't have that and we've submitted that to the Ideas portal.

Once the redaction panel makes their decision, we let the instructor know and either remove or reinstate the comment.

Happy to answer any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Greg
