I would love to know if anyone is using the split placement feature in placement management/SLL. I am looking to learn more and see some use cases.
My institution is running into some challenges with activities and assigning roles where within certain courses we have various set ups for placement (1 supervisor/1 mentor and no supervisor/2 mentors but same assessment needs to be completed). I wonder if a split placement could help us here, specifically the start and end date to limit when certain assessments are visible/editable to the current placement. I would love to hear from anyone who is using this feature and what you've learned from using it.
We are in our second semester of using SL&L, so I know enough to be dangerous! Our student teachers complete two placements as part of their student teaching courses. In our setup, the supervisors and instructors are the same person, so activities are pushed out via the course scheduler. This means the supervisor, mentor, and student all see activities simultaneously.
If I understand your question correctly, you would like to use the placement start and end dates to determine when activities become visible to the mentor teacher. This is possible, but with multiple placements, the only way to achieve this is to schedule when you want the placement pushed out to the mentor teacher.
If I’ve misunderstood your question, let me know! I’d happily discuss further via the forum or on a Zoom call.
That is exactly what I was thinking! That is great to know. Just so I don't put my email everywhere, feel free to shoot me an email. I would love to set up a zoom so I could see your set up in action if possible!
