We would love to connect with someone who is currently using Gateways. We have done some preliminary work and it is enabled for us but are wondering how others use it/like it.
I’m an admin as well. We are currently using Gateways to collect required documents, and it works pretty well. Gateways provides a place for students to upload documents for their cohort; You also can upload documents for students as well. As an admin, it’s easy to see who has not submitted the documents. It’s hard to track submissions via mail, and it’s challenging to find a sharing place to store these documents.
Regarding the time log, we require students to complete 10 hours of service learning, which is separate from internship hours. It’s difficult for us to track who has fulfilled this requirement. We are now setting up a time log in Gateways that will capture time logs for the courses you assign. It will automatically reflect whether students meet this requirement.
Overall, Gateways will be a good tool for various uses. It’s worth spending some time considering how you want to group your cohort and design your licensure plan. Hope this helps!
Chun,That sounds just like what we need to do! We have a cumulative check list they need to complete before student teaching and that could be a requirement via a time log.
Does anyone use Applications in Gateways? There are two “applications” I am thinking about - we have a pre and post-survey that we need to collect data on (one in their first semester, and one in their final semester). We also have a pre-practicum microsoft form (preference, current workplace, etc) that I'm trying to integrate into Gateways. I know Applications doesn't have to be a true “application” but I'm getting hung up on some of the language it defaults to: Accepted, Conditionally Accepted, Denied.

We are using gateways for the same functions. We just rolled it out and it seems to be working so far.
