Leveraging self-service reporting to onboard new faculty

Welcome to our next post for “Watermark Wednesday!"  Every other Wednesday, you can anticipate a new post from your Watermark Community Moderators.

Introducing Faculty Success to a new faculty/staff member brings new challenges for all institutions, one of these being the overwhelming amount of data which could be requested. To make this easier, administrators can assist with guided data entry by creating and sharing a formatted self-service report. This report can include only essential sections, helping faculty focus on what's most important.

How does this help?

  • New faculty can visually see each data section within one report.
  • They can add or edit their activities and accomplishments directly from the report.
  • Faculty will be able to see results in real-time, allowing them to efficiently fill out the report with critical information for your campus and their individual needs.

For institutions with Reviews, Promotion, and Tenure (Workflow)

  • You can leverage Workflow to onboard new faculty/staff by creating a short process that walks them through submitting materials in Faculty Success.
  • You can add a self-service report to your Workflow process as a generated report to provide further guidance in data entry.

Why test this feature?

  • Utilizing add/edit in self-service reports may help simplify the onboarding process and increase adoption of Faculty Success at your institution.
  • Institutional usage of Faculty Success varies, this may not be the preferred method for onboarding but its worth investigating for other purposes.

Stay tuned for future Watermark Wednesdays as we highlight other features and topics. Have you tried the add/edit feature in self-service reports? If so, share your thoughts and experience or comment your questions below!
