When we launched student learning and licensure we went with basic log categories in each program. Now I see there are category types, labels, etc. Can anyone who is using more in-depth category features chat with how they are using them?

  • We are just starting in SL&L, but had some complex logs built out in Tk20 that we'll be modeling ours after. For Student Teaching, these will eventually include hours tracked during student teaching, and also hours completed during school blocks (practicum before the internship semester(s)), and hours completed for the Alternative Certification Program toward licensure.

For our School Psychology program, the students are required to track very specific sets of time for the various types of work they will be required to do, such as time spent in counseling sessions, time spent with parents, time spent on specific kinds of student topics, etc. They have 3-letter abbreviations they used for each of these categories in Excel, but we can use the Time Logs to spell it all out neatly.

  • Thank you for your response. When we started we had program categories in their respective places for education programs field and clinical. It is getting more involved with ESL hours that are embedded in Early Childhood curriculum and are considered ESL and Program hours. Also Social Work has jumped on board which I was not sure how to label the placement management piece there and if it was necessary. I am nervous that if it is not build correctly it will cause problems down the line with audits.
