In addition to the reports included by default in your system, Faculty Success can add a handful of pre-constructed reports for common audiences. As part of our suite of base reports, Faculty Success maintains a custom report fitting the Biographical Sketch template for National Science Foundation (NSF) grant applications.

NSF is an agency of the United States government that supports research and education in all the non-medical fields of science and engineering. The Biographical Sketch is one piece used in developing applications for grants from NSF.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is NSF’s medical counterpart. Faculty Success also maintains a base report of the NIH Biographical Sketch. More information about that report can be found in the article Base Reports: NIH Biographical Sketch.

UPDATE 2020

Faculty Success is committed to ensuring our base reports are current and comply with updated standards and processes. The requirement to use an NSF-approved format for preparation of the biographical sketch will go into effect for new proposals submitted or due on or after October 5, 2020. According to NSF the approved formats include SciEnCV or NSF Fillable PDF. Our base report makes it easy to copy and paste data from the NSF Biosketch Report into the NSF Fillable PDF.

Security Roles: Faculty, Department, College and University
NSF is an agency of the United States government that supports research and education in all the non-medical fields of science and engineering. The Biographical Sketch is one piece used in developing applications for grants from NSF.

The updated format allows researchers to enter up to 10 publications or patents for inclusion in the NSF Biographical Sketch report. The report will display these publications in the order in which they are entered here, provided they match the reporting criteria.

To add the NSF report to your instrument, simply submit a Report Setup work request with the following details:

  • Instructions to put the report in place – Please put the NSF biosketch report in place
  • List of security roles that should have access to run the report – A list of available security roles can be viewed by selecting the View Security Roles link on the Users and Security page.
  • A list of colleges or departments that should have access to the report, if it shouldn’t be available for all users.

As part of deploying the NSF Biosketch report, Faculty Success will put in place the below NSF Biosketch screen for users to designate information that should be included when the biosketch report is generated.
