Canvas - Using Cross-Listed Courses

A cross-listed course is a single course that is offered as part of a track or curriculum by multiple disciplines, potentially under multiple departments.

The Advanced Canvas Integration accounts for cross-listed courses.

If multiple courses are cross-listed into a course shell in Canvas, the data for those courses will still be linked to the original course sections they were mapped to in System Administration.

As an example, let's consider a situation in which Course A and Course B are created in Canvas. Then, the Canvas Administrator creates a third course shell, Course C, and cross-lists Course A and Course B into shell Course C.

In System Administration, the administrator has already created two course sections for Course Section A and Course Section B, which are mapped to the Canvas Course A and Course B.

In Planning & Self-Study, all the assessment activities created under shell course Course C (in Canvas) will now appear under Course Section A and Course Section B.

If the courses are cross-listed after the assessments have taken place, the data will still come in.

If the courses are unlisted after the assessments have taken place, the assessment data will be removed.
