Placement Management - Create placements manually

Assign a Site:

When a field placement coordinator wants to assign a site to a student placement, the coordinator will click on the “Assign Site” text link. A flyout opens and the coordinator can filter the sites using the “District” drop-down or search a site by its name. After selecting a site, the user can click the “Assign” button to associate the site with the student’s placement displayed on the Placement Assignment card.

Assign Mentors:

When a field placement coordinator wants to assign one or more mentors to a student placement, the coordinator will click on the “Assign Mentors” text link. A flyout opens and the user can filter the mentors using the two available options:

  • Search by mentor name, email, or site
  • Checkbox to filter the mentors associated with the assigned site: If a user checks this checkbox, only those mentors who have been associated with the site on the student’s placement will be displayed. 

A field placement coordinator can also sort the mentor list on the basis of the 

  • Mentor Name column- Sort the mentors in ascending/descending order
  • Section Mentor column- Sort the mentors on the basis of whether they are enrolled in a section or not.

Additionally, the field placement coordinator can limit the displayed list to the selected mentors.

 

After selecting one or more mentors, the field placement coordinator can click the “Assign” button. This causes the selected mentors to be assigned to the student’s placement and displayed on the Placement Assignment card. 

 

Assign Supervisors:

When a field placement coordinator wants to assign one or more supervisors to a student placement, the coordinator clicks on the “Assign Supervisors” text link causing a flyout to open. The flyout displays the mentors and the user can filter the mentors by 

  • Search by supervisor name, email, or site

 

A field placement coordinator can also sort the mentor list by:

  • Supervisor Name column- Sort the supervisors in ascending/descending order

Section Supervisor column- Sort the supervisors on the basis of whether they are enrolled in a section or not.

Additionally, the field placement coordinator can limit the displayed list to the selected supervisor.

 

After selecting one or more supervisors, the field placement coordinator can click the “Assign” button. This causes the selected supervisors to be assigned to the student’s placement and displayed on the Placement Assignment card. 

 

Add Placement Details

Using this card, the field placement coordinator will be able to add additional information about the student’s placement. The additional fields include:

  1. Placement Details
    1. Multiple values can be entered by the field placement coordinator.
    2. Display validation up to 50 alphabets/characters.
    3. No limitation for adding placement details tags. 
  2. Content Area
    1. Multiple values can be entered by the field placement coordinator. 
    2. Display validation up to 50 alphabets/characters.
    3. No limitation for adding placement details tags. 
  3. Grade Levels
    1. Multiple grades can be entered by the field placement coordinator
  4. Start Date
    1. The field placement coordinator can select a start date
  5. End Date
    1. The field placement coordinator can select an end date
    2. Note
      1. The field placement coordinator can add text for this student’s placement. The text will be available to the student from the course’s “Placement Details” card.

NOTE: The additional placement details will be saved by hitting the “SAVE & CLOSE” button available on the page header.

View Placement History

The field placement coordinator can view the details of a student's placement history while making their placement decisions. To view the placement history, the field placement coordinator clicks on the “VIEW PLACEMENT HISTORY” button available on the placement details page.

 

For each previously recorded placement, the following details will be displayed:

  1. Site name
  2. Mentors
  3. Supervisors
  4. Term
  5. Dates
  6. Placement Details
  7. Content Area
  8. Grade Levels

If the placement was originally recorded in Field Experience, the following details will be displayed:

  1. Site Name
  2. Mentors
  3. Supervisors
  4. Term
  5. Label

Creating two or more placements for a student

If you have created a placement for a student and would like to add another placement in the same section: 

1. Go to the Placements tab in Placement Management

2. Click the More options button (three dots) to the right of the student that you would like to add another placement for

3. Click New Student Placement

4. Enter the information for the new placement and click Save
